Who Am I?
My name is Sean, and I’m a huge enthusiast for these tanks. I love anything related to the world of underwater, in case you haven’t already guessed that from this site. Building aquariums of every shape, size, and variation brings me both peace and joy, and I want to share that with everyone.
I am passionate about aquariums of all kinds, but especially saltwater aquariums, and mostly reef tanks. Doesn’t that sound magical? If you’ve never slipped under the skin of cool tranquility into one of these amazing tanks before, you’re in for a treat.
Saltwater tanks are quite different from keeping planted tanks or freshwater tanks, and on this site, you’ll learn all sorts of tips and tricks to make this hobby an amazing part of your life.
Understanding how to build them, how to alter them, and how to maintain them is crucial to ensuring your tank thrives and looks its most compelling.
I am here to help you create underwater scenes that will take your breath away – and not just because they’ll be so beautiful, you’ll want to dive into the tank!
How did I get started?
A hobby can start anywhere, but I started more than 20 years ago. I came across aquariums almost by accident, and dived headlong into an immediate love for the world. The miniaturization and amazing tranquility of the spaces captivated me instantly, and I was compelled to explore, heading to ever-deeper depths in the aquarium world.
When I built my first aquarium, I knew it was going to be a passion for life. It was far from perfect and I still had plenty to learn, but I was like a fish on a hook; I was all in, and have stayed that way ever since.
What’s My Goal Now?
The short version is that aquariums bring me joy, and I want to share that joy with other people. There is so much negativity in our current world, and I want to help people find hobbies which give them space to breathe, space to think, and a sense of tranquility.
How can I do that?
My intention is to create a site on which I share everything I have learned about aquariums with others. Every tip, trick, and hidden pearl of knowledge in the clam-shells at the bottom, I want to unveil, so that others can build beautiful spaces of their own.
Aquariums can be enjoyed by anyone, but you need some basic knowledge to get them going and avoid disasters; I intend to offer up that knowledge so you can learn from me – sometimes hilarious – mistakes and hard-won expertise.
